Tutorial on Illustrator Template

Along with all its other aspects, Adobe Illustrator is good in producing nice and good quality vectors as well. It is very well suited for print purposes. Designing things like Business cards, postcards and Brochures can also be done. While making stuff like brochures wherein all the pages of the brochure follow a particular theme as in the basic structure say header and footer( for instance) remains the same.

In such designs, the Illustrator Template comes very handy. You can make the basic things which are going to remain same throughout the design. And then everytime we have to make a new page, we need not make the basic elements of our design, time and again. Instead we can just derive a copy of the saved file and carry on with the dynamic part of the design.

Follow the steps below to create and use illustrator templates:

1. Create your Template:
Create the basic design. As mentioned above, this design should contain all the items of your design which are present all through.

2. Save your Template:
Then Go to File > Save as Template and name your template that best describes the content/setting of the file. Settings like for Print RGB Color Setting is prefered and CMYK mode for photo files etc.

3. New from Template:
Now go to File > New From Template and Adobe Illustrator will create a new file with all the design elements and setting you’ve put in your template.

So, like this we can save a lot of time and instead of creating all the pages right from scrap, we can just make use fo the saved file and create multiple pages.
