Fireworks tutorial to retain single solid color of colored photograph and convert the rest to black / white or sepia tone

Before After

I use a simple trick to convert colored photographs to black / white or sepia and retain a single solid color of the picture

To get this above mentioned effect, Follow the steps below.
  • Import your picture to fireworks canvas
  • Duplicate the frame in which your picture exists using "add / dupicate" tool in your frame window

  • Convert the picture in "Frame 2" to Black / white or to sepia tone by selecting
Commands > Creative > Convert to Grayscale from the main menu

  • Select "magic wand tool" from the toolbox, and select area in the photograph you want to delete. In properties window, increase or decrease the tolerance such that only desired portion or solid color is left behind and the rest is ready to be deleted. For my picture, I increased the tolerance  to '200' and edge to 'Hard'.

  • Press delete key to delete the unwanted area.
  • As you can now see, your final image is ready. :)
