Our client ‘Never-the-less’ (www.nevertheless.in) approached us to create a hand-out flyer for their conference “Enabling Access for Persons with Disabilities to Higher Education and the Workplace: Role of ICT and Assistive Technologies”, which was held at IIM Bangalore on the 20th and 21st of Jan 2012. The brief was simple - illustrate a hand drawn ‘mind map’ of all their activities. And this is the end result!
The exciting part - we got the opportunity to attain the conference. This conference was a real eye-opener.
Most of us live in this illusion that physically challenged people are also a little slow in their minds. The truth is they are not; they are much sharper and more ‘lively’ than we are.
This conference had workshops featuring some of the top management professionals from companies like Mphasis, Microsoft, Wipro, Genpact, Thomson Reuters, Nasscom, IIT Madras, Infosys and many more..
All the speakers – some were disabled; others blind or deaf - were smart, extremely self-motivated and determined. They are all doing well, working for good organizations but they had a similar journey - all had to fight; fight every step up the ladder.
Was glad to know that some established organizations are working on projects to make Assistive devices that would help in normal schools and colleges.
